An Auspicious Start

on January 7, 2010

I am happy to report I barreled into 2010 with much verve and enthusiasm. On the inside. On the outside I was in my PJs by seven and napping in order to be awake when the ball dropped. But on the inside, much excitement.

The first day of the year was a bit exhausting seeing as it involved eighteen hours spent either on a plane or dozing off in an airport. But this was to avoid spending two days in my car driving, so even this was faced with much excitement. On the inside.

On the outside I was freaking freezing from a short change-over through O’Hare airport where I had to walk outside to board my plane in five degree weather. How the hell do people live there?!

Once I got kiddo back in the Little Rock airport, I was feeling much better. On the inside. On the outside I was struggling not to roll my eyes as I sat through a quick (felt like eons) meal with my ex and his next victim. I now have supersonic control of my eyeballs.

Then, at midnight, I was finally home again. At which point I could not find my cell phone. The cell phone I just bought myself for Christmas. (That’s it to the left, isn’t it cute?) But I remained calm. On the outside.

On the inside I was freaking then talking myself down then freaking again. The auspicious part comes in here. While sitting in my car, using my OnStar phone (seeing as I didn’t have a home phone at the time, have since fixed that) to report my phone lost, it was sitting on the floor in the backseat of my car. Not six inches away from my ass. *sigh*

So, I’m happy to report that kiddo is back, my phone is here, and I am still excited about this year. On all sides.

Everywhere I look people are excited about this year. Whether it’s because 2009 was so shitty for so many, or something in the water, I don’t know. Are you excited and if so, what are you looking forward to in 2010?
