I’m So Excited!!!

I know. I’ve been saying that a lot lately. (Quick aside: is it “a lot” or “alot”? Since Word just changed “alot” back to “a lot” I guess I have my answer) This weekend my daughter comes home!!! Ten weeks. Ten VERY LONG weeks. And this time there were no “how much longer do I have?” calls starting around the six week mark. I’m not handling that well. My little girl is growing up. She’s getting used to being away from me. I’m trying not to be crushed about this.

Earlier this summer I was talking to my dad and looking at a picture of my daughter when she was about 4. I said, “My baby girl isn’t a baby girl anymore.” Without missing a beat my dad said, “Well, neither is mine.” I had never thought of this. I was once my daddy’s baby girl. I guess I always will be in his eyes but I don’t think of myself that way at all. But after this conversation I try to picture Isabelle all grown up with a little girl of her own. I can’t do it. My child is never growing up. I’ve decided and that’s that.

So, I’ve been working on her room. When she left it was a mess mostly because I have been remiss in purging her old toys and clothes. Not anymore. I hauled off almost 10 boxes and bags to the local children’s hospital fund raising store. (Yay! Tax deduction for me!) New desk, New poster, new curtains, new bird cage stand (messy dang bird) and a practically empty but organized closet means we are in business. *pats self on back*

To top it all off the plan is to spend Saturday afternoon at the Biltmore Estate in Ashville, NC. It’s on our way back from Knoxville and I’ve been trying to find the time to check it out for three years now. If all goes well (and they allow it) I’ll have plenty of pictures to share when we get back.

Now a couple of quick reminders. Romance Vagabonds are holding an Avon Fanlit Anniversary/Reunion Celebration all this week. Yes, I’m a little late but you can check out the stuff already posted and there’s plenty more fun to come. I happen to know the big sex scene is still to come but don’t tell anyone I told you. *ssssshhhhhhhhhhhh* So hop over there (after commenting of course *g*) and join the fun. And no, I cannot be bribed to tell you who wrote what chapter. I mean….errr…..I have no idea who those people are.

One more quick thing. I have found the funniest and coolest damn thing on the net. It’s Brotherhood 2.0 and it’s hysterical. Don’t sit here expecting me to tell you what it is, just go. See for yourself. Just be prepared to be addicted!

Now, anyone else excited about the end of summer and the promise of cooler weather, a change of season or the impending holidays (which will be here in about 10 minutes!!!)? Or anything else you might be excited about. Share with us, won’t you?

I’m super excited for school! I just spent way too much money to buy books. So that’s that.

But I guess I should be excited for my goddaughter and being a maid of honor. *sighs* I should, but not really.

I cannot wait for my kids to get back to school. We are at the end of the summer blues…too hot, bored to tears, getting on each other’s nerves and that’s before 9am!

  3. My baby girls expects her baby girl on September 18!!! So that’s a good thing. But school starts Monday for me and that’s a bad thing. Hope you have a fun mom/daughter day!

Di – but it’s an excuse to get prettied up. Not that you need an excuse but I would still think that would be enough to get you excited.

Santa – The blessed return to school. It’s odd since I don’t have my child over the summer but I think I’d take the arguing and fussing if it meant having her here all year.

Maggie – Yay!! Babies are always exciting. And school won’t be so bad either. Think of all the fun you’ll have pretending to work while you are playing with us online. *g*

This has been the worst summer of my entire life. I can not wait until it is over. How many funerals have I had to attend – 5. How many friends have been diagnosed with cancer – 2. How many relatives have been diagnosed with cancer – 2. How many friends’ marriages have ended – 1. Unfortunately I could go on, but even I can’t whine that much. September is not looking too good either, I’m just waiting for October!

Terri I am really glad Isabelle is on her way home. I hope you two have a great school year.

Beth – I’m so sorry you’ve had such a bad summer. Here’s to a better fall and a better year ahead.

Tiff – I don’t know what you’re talking about. hehehe

I had a good summer. It was very busy, though. Busier than I thought it would be.

So am I excited about school starting? Are you kidding me?! I know I posted this already somewhere, but the day before the kid’s first day of school I was playing “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of The Year,” by Andy Williams, very loudly throughout the house. My daughter was not amused. My son didn’t get it. He’s definitely a boy.

I’ve got myself on a little better routine this year and we cut back on some of the extra-curricular stuff. So far, so good. We’re gonna try to stay organized and stress free this year. We’ll see how that goes!

I’m glad Isabella is back home with you. That has to be hard for you even though it is a sort of break. I joke about wanting them to go away at times, but I think if I really had to be separated from my two for any length of time I’d go a little crazy.

Oh, Irish, I love that you played that song throughout the house. That is too funny. And the kids’ reactions were even better. Boys can be clueless. No matter how old they are.

Yes, it’s nice to have my summers free but I’d still rather have her here than have her gone. But everything is right in the world again and life can return to normal!

I keep thinking this means life will settle down. Why does that never happen?!

  10. Tessa Dare says:

I hope you and your daughter had a great reunion! I don’t know where the summer went. It seems it was just June a minute ago!

  11. Quantumphase says:

Glad you’re back together again Terri.

I remember how strange and silent our house felt when my son left home for university.
We soon adjusted though…and started fighting over who should have the extra space!

What is that song…this boy is totally clueless *helpless grin*

  12. terrio says:

Tessa – I know!! Where did the summer go?

Q – Dude, they’re English. Clueless my ass. LOL!
