16 Things About Me

I was tagged in more places than I can count to do this. So here goes. I won’t tag anyone else but anyone who wants to play along and add their own personal trivia is welcome to it.

1) My birthday is New Year’s Eve. Yes, there’s always a party. No, it’s never for me.
2) If I concentrate really hard I can remember standing in my crib. No matter how much I concentrate, I can’t remember last week.
3) I just bought a new car and the euphoria is still running high. I figure it’ll run out around the 12th of next month when the first payment is due.
4) Other than the Christmas cards sitting in a pile on my kitchen counter, you’d never know it’s Christmas by looking at my apartment. Not one decoration. Not one gift. *sigh*
5) I got my first car before I got my license. I wrecked said car less than two months after getting my license.
6) My first concert was Loverboy in the Pittsburgh Civic Arena when I was 11. My mother went and slept through the opening act.
7) I’m a certified chocoholic and trying very hard to talk myself out of grabbing a Nestle Crunch from the break room.
8) I still have my Culture Club, Corey Hart, Madonna, Rick Springfield, Lionel Ritchie, and Air Supply albums from the 80s. I have no idea why.
9) I get motion sickness very easily. I missed 20 minutes of the movie Twilight because the camera movements made me sick and I had to leave the theater. Same thing happened at the end of Twister years ago. I’m seeing a “Tw” pattern here.
10) I’ve been listening to nothing but Christmas music for three days in order to get into the spirit of things. I’m pretty sure there are only five Christmas Carols and every entertainer from Elvis to Britney Spears has cover versions of all of them.
11) I spent eight years of my life as a disc jockey on the radio. I worked in two different states for two different stations without changing musical genres or companies.
12) In 2006, I didn’t know what a blog was.
13) When I was 13 I fell in love with The Monkees when MTV ran a marathon of the old TV shows. I remember being totally amazed when my mom knew every word to the theme song. It was the first time I realized she had a life before I was born.
14) At my 13th birthday party, I fell and broke my arm putting up decorations before the guests arrived. I refused to go to the hospital until the party was over. Which worked out since I had my first slow dance that night with a boy I’d had a major crush on for more than a year. A pity dance is still a dance.
15) I moved to Nashville alone when I was 22 without having a place to live when I got there. Arrived on a Thursday, got an apartment on Friday, moved in on Saturday, and started work at Opryland USA on Monday. It was the first day of Fanfare and I walked right past Brooks & Dunn in the Opryland Hotel.
16) In 1994 I worked at the Opryland Hotel. In 2010 I will stay as a guest at the hotel for the first time ever while attending RWA Nationals. Oh yeah, I’m there!

Man, that was hard. And not very exciting now that I read back through. Oh well, I did it. Now lets here what you’ve got.

  1. Terri, I couldn’t think of 16 things. But now I AM singing “Hey hey we’re the Monkees.”

Here’s one: I’ve never stayed overnight in a hospital for myself except to have babies, and sit with said babies when they were sick. I still have my tonsils. (well, I guess that’s two.)

  2. Quantum says:

Now I know everything about you Terri!

I never share intimate details on the internet, but for you I will reveal my vital statistics: 38 38 38.

No,you’re not allowed to ask which units I’m using.

I think thats one more than Maggie! *grin*

  3. Elyssa Papa says:

I got this, too. I hated thinking of 16 things to say about myself. I was tempted to come up with 16 things I wish I could say about myself instead which would have included: I kissed George Clooney, and I liked it. LOL.

  4. terrio says:

Maggie – You sound like my sister except she’s never had babies. LOL! She had her gall bladder out at age 38 and that was her first experience staying in a hospital. In fact, I’m not even sure she spent the night!

Q – I can assure you, there is nothing intimate in this list. LOL! Just my boring stats and a little sarcasm. 🙂

Ely – That would have made for a much better blog. 16 Lies About Myself! LOL!

  5. Janga says:

Oh, I like the 16 things I wish were true. I could begin with “I don’t mind turning gray because I look like Helen Mirren in a bikini.”

I ignored the tags. My life’s too dull to list 16 things.

  6. Marnee Jo says:

Wow, these are fun. I don’t think I could do more than 5 of these.

  7. J.K. Coi says:

    Hi Terri!
Just popping in to wish you a safe and happy holiday!

  8. terrio says:

Janga – I’d love to look like Helen Mirren in anything. That woman is amazing!

Marn – You have no idea how long it took to come up with this stuff. LOL! I bet you could do 20 just with old college stories. 😉

    JK – Merry Christmas, darlin’!

    Sorry, I’m late to EFERYTHING!

    Love the list!

I have a sister who is 6 years older and my family still gets us mixed up. When I was younger I thought it was nice. Now, I just think that I’m old looking like her. Ssssssheeez, don’t tell her. The good thing is, she has no gray hair and has not colored it either.Gives me lots of hope.

I’m afraid of needles but use them everyday to administer shots to my children–go figure!

I have a chicken pox mark on the tip of my nose. Where da hell where my parents and millions of siblings to watch me from doing something like that? Needless to say, yes, I have a scar!

My best friend and I lost our mothers on back to back days. Which still sucks!

I stash chocolate in my night stand. Y’know just in case.

I love going to Church but can’t stand most of the people at church. Not very Christian, eh?!

My mil and fil are the ages of my brothers and sisters. They were actually intimidated by that.

Daddy had me when he was 54. Go DAD!

Our first car we owned (used–of course) ended up being a tin box at a scrap shop, only got fifty dollars from it. Our second car got stolen by gangbangers in Chicago and burned. Our third car caught on fire while I drove it–got sent out of commission, took the fire department to put the fire out. Our fourth car caught on fire again…(can you see the pattern?) but somehow it was still able to be salvaged–DAMNIT! Finally, a tornado came through Park Forest and destroyed that mini-van. Hallelujah! We now have a Honda Pilot and I’m praying no fires, tornadoes…fires cross it.

My husband weighs more than I do but is actually skinnier. No ‘fo reals, he is.

I can’t think of anything interesting…not like my list was interesting…still, it was nice to babble.

    Merry Christmas, Love ya,

IG – I LOVE this list! My sister is three years older but people always think she’s younger. Well, now that she’s looking old, maybe not so much anymore.

As long as hubby weighs more, you’re good. That’s my theory anyway. 🙂

Good luck with the new vehicle! That’s way too much vehicle fire stuff for one family. I knew some people in Pittsburg who kept buying new mini-vans and they kept getting stolen. They went through like three in one year. At that point, you either stop buying vehicles or MOVE! LOL!

    Merry Christmas, Gorgeous!
